Ripped Off Through eBay
« on: February 07, 2008, 08:31 AM »
Long story this one, I bought a Robinson frame, forks and padset from the States from eBay user 'rad98b' in September. All communications were going well and he said he had posted it but couldn't find the tracking number.  ::) Alarm bells should have been rining there I guess.

Well the frame never turned up so in November I contacted him to find out what was going on. He assures me it's still coming as it was sent surface mail so would take a while. Well now two months later it's still not turned up and I get the distinct impression that it was never sent in the first place.

Obviously it's now too late to do anything so I have no redress at all. Definetely the last time I use eBay for anything outside the UK.

i hope you haven't mate  :-\  although things can take ages to come from the states when sent through surface mail.........and i think it can be longer depending on the state it's being shipped from, i've heard some people wait 3 or 4 months!

don't think i'd ever buy anything large from the states myself though

Help me out here, I've never sold owt on ebay  (although I'm about to start) and I've only bought from UK sellers so far, but;

Isn't this actually a case of breach of contract?

Aren't Ebay legally obligated to provide the sellers name and address in cases like these so formal proceedings can be started?

It seems like such a simple case of offer & Acceptance.  Once these two factors are agreed, for example an item for sale (offer) and a price paid and money cashed, transferred whatever  (acceptance) then you and the seller are locked into a legally binding contract....

Lawsuit to follow surely?

i hate EBAY  :2gunsfiring_v1:  :2gunsfiring_v1:  :2gunsfiring_v1:
but sometimes you have to use it  :'(  :'( i think ive been lucky with most sftuff,i now ALWAYS if ive not had it in about 2/3 weeks,make a claim,then escalete it to a dispute,it then gets the seller moving and if you hear nothing atleast youve covered your arse by starting a dispute,none of the ebay/paypal crap about "sorry its been too long" too long my arse,just sort it out you t@ssers,money for nothing springs to mind about both of em,  :2gunsfiring_v1: ebay  :2gunsfiring_v1: paypal
