Any tips on removing GRAB ON Grips then.....???
« on: January 31, 2008, 04:19 PM »
I have a near NOS Pair of Grab On MX3's which I need to remove from a pair of Bars,

they're as tight as a nun's c**t, so how do I get em off ? they are not as pliable as rubber grips they may tear if i try to lodge a screwdriver inside em,

ANY TIPS !?! Please

thank you

Matt

Can't you take the bars off and dip the grips in hot soapy water? They will become pliable and if you ease the soapy water under the grips they will slide off......it's a method I find works very well.

poke a spoke in there. once you have a bit of wd40 in the gap it will find it's way all around the grip

if youve got a set of long ball-end allen keys use a 2mm and slide it under the grip and squirt window cleaner (it evaporates unlike wd40) and twist the allen key in the grip and it will move the cleaner around the grip and pull it off   yeah baby!

Spray the red tube that comes with WD40, insert said tube into the gap between bar and grip, re-attach WD40 nozzle and spray as you penetrate. Waggleing at this point is said to aid lubrication. DONE  :daumenhoch:

Really easy way to take off grips is to get a footpump and popping it over the hole in the end of the grip and pump away. The grip expands and just slides off. So no more screwdrivers down the handlenars.  :LolLolLolLol:
