« on: February 01, 2008, 12:10 PM »
I've got a WAL Riot coming in th next few days (been after one for a while now so I'm well chuffed) and I need some parts advice as this is a bit of a gray area for me lads.

What would you fit it out with, wheels, bars, stem, grips etc. etc.

As much helps as possible would be great please lads and lasses.

Thanks in advance.

Here are some magazine scans from Ride, Vol1 Iss 7- OctNov 1993

Firstly, I think that is Radcliff on the cover on a WAL, next to Gerry and that could be Gossa on the right?

Geoff Cain is riding a Zima frame in the test but I think he pretty much used all the parts from his WAL to build it.

Elsewhere in the mag Geoff was still on his WAL doing some riding, but you'll need to look close cos they are small pics.
You will have to exuse the other fool in the sequence. They put him in there to make Geoff look better!

Nice one Daz!

Was it the one on the bay?

Never came as a complete bike, but here's one setup from an old mag:
(maybe the same mag alex has posted above???)

I also got this vid which I'm hoping to get transferred to disc some time soon. It's got some good shots of the frame and forks and bashguard.
Did you get a bashguard with your setup?

This is my old ride, made of of mostly old school bits at the time:

sugino opc,
kneesavers
tuf neck stem
araya 7x's with acs freecoaster on suntour hub and suzue front hub
a'me tris
kashi aero
gt tyres
shimano sx's
mx1000 front
ad990 rear
acs tangent levers
ody gyro
etc

Brian  :daumenhoch:

ps cheers for your PM mate, will reply soon! ;)

pps I got a set of magnesium primo tenderizers here might look right on ur build???

It was yours that inspired me to get one dude, I wasn't a big fan originally but now I think they're a thing of beauty!

I suppose I was stupid thinking I could have kept it quiet.  :LolLolLolLol:

Trouble is every fooker knows how much, or how little should I say, I've paid for it  :(

Oh well, I suppose because of it's rarity it was worth taking a punt.

GT Rider is either Gossa or Kieth Duly

Kieth was/is skinny and that rider looks chunky/fat so I'd put my money on Gossa  :LolLolLolLol:

Funnily enough, we've just exchanged PMs after a couple of years out of touch...

He's running triathalons and road racing these days, hasn't been BMX riding for a good long while but has kept hold of his bike   ;)

What is it with these ex BMXers. Ian Osborne, Graham Hardy and now Radcliff. All into triathalons/iron mans now. Its a strange jump to make?

I know.  I don't get it at all, but Howard was always into keeping himself fit and has a competitive spirit.  I guess thats it.  I've never had that competitive urge hence no team sports for me at school and I've never raced BMX.

I suppose its all about pushing limits and challenging yourself and all that crap    ;D
