Landing gear - threaded and bear trap 2 headset
« on: January 27, 2008, 06:49 PM »
I am struggling to fit a new Bear Trap 2 head set to my ripper, it has threaded LG forks but the bottom part of the headset seems loose aroung the forks and has a lot of play once its all put together.

Is there a shim that I am missing?
Will this combo work?

Have I just put it together wrong?

Sounds like you need to put a couple of winds of electrical tape around the fork to pick up the slack.  There should be a brass shim on the forks but it sounds like that is missing, not unexpectd if they are old forks  :daumenhoch:

Found the shim but it is still loose?

Will the tape do the trick?

Can you buy the brass shims?

Thanks for the help -  :daumenhoch:

If the tape does'nt work, cut a strip of metal out of a coke can, I found this makes-
a "no-give" substitute.
remember........it has to be real Cocoa Cola, or it will explode killing all around you!

Thanks for your help guys.

The coke can sounds a little easier than the baked bean tin somebody at work suggested, he said the same thing about them being HEINZ beans and people getting killed if a snide bean tin was used?
