Taj ID please.
« on: January 25, 2008, 12:12 PM »
Hi, Can anyone tell me about this Taj frame please?  It's got the gusset HB stamp which I've been told is a Taiwan thing,  but it has a 1inch headtube and I thought Taiwan didn't produce 1inch Hoffmans?     Please fill me with your wisdom, many thanks.

i've got one of them. i was always under the impression that all the tai taj's had the stays capped. only the u.s ones were uncapped. thats just how i remember it as a rider in that period

Really? This is what confused me, as my friend had a Ti Taj complete in 98, and it was 100% a 1/18th one.

I don't know if this helps, but I thought it would be a cool place to post this. This is Kelly Baker's Taj frame that Taj gave him back in the day. It's the actual frame Taj is riding on the cover of Ride. According to Taj, it's the 4th one made and has no serial numbers on it. Kelly just scored some bars and is building it back up!

Yeah, that would be right.  the 1" stuff didn't last for long in Taiwan.  A year maybe?
