Wilkerson was amazing.  Dominguez was a much better ramp rider though.  Wilkerson took it to the next level though. He was probably the first person to start doing technical deck tricks.  Also Wilkerson was probably the best all round rider in the world until DMC came along.

Completely agree Trev, Wilkerson's pedal picker drop-ins still amaze me today - quality!

Daz.  :daumenhoch:

I used to try them on small ramps.  Scary as fook.  Wilkerson doing them on a 12ft halfpipe was just insane.
Do you also remember his Miami Hopper Backwards Drop Ins?  Probably the sickest deck trick ever done in the 80's.

I remember Ron saying that he had to try and push the limits on those sort of tricks because there was a new batch of kids coming through that he couldn't keep up with on the airs.  One of them was a young kid called Mat Hoffman (with two T's)

Tried them twice, both in 1988 at comps with the adrenaline running high , crashed them both! Hurt my ankle really bad on one at Alfreton, this one I got away with at the Jack Kane Centre in Edinburgh...

I am aware that Andy needs new hips that's why I said (Get yourself fixed Andy) and I also know buying a BMX is a personal thing but no need to take everything so serious Mr F.

P.S - Hope you have a great time at OLD FOOLS and don't over do it.

Speak to you soon,
S.

Didn't realise I was - just saying how it is!!

I do mate.....mad as f***......I remember him doing one at Holeshot. I think that was the first and only one I saw live, I remember him setting up and thinking, oh no, he's not, he is you know, wow!

As for pedal pickers, I couldn't even do them on the floor, not my specialist area!  ::)

Just for you Daz....

i loved pedal pickers. forwards and backwards.
i'd love to have a go a one again. so if anyone has an old school rider with a coaster and is bringing it to MK08, come and find me...
although having never done them for about 18 or so years, i'm sure i will still be able to do a forwards one. the backwards one, although easy enough once you're up there make take a bit more bottle and agility to get into...

I would love to see Terry Jenkins back on a bike. I did give him a bit of stick last time I saw him and told him he has to ride again. He has a few old war wounds but I think we can work around them.

Good idea - possibly the most unique style on a quarter pipe!

Don't need a coaster for the forwards one Trev...... although I suppose it does make them a little easier!

I know, but I never tried them with out. Never had a good enough back brake.
In fact the only people I remember doing them with a freewheel were Dave Young & Steve McIntosh.
Dave use to have his cranks levels though. Steve actually had his in the same position as a coaster brake pedal picker. I remember he used to go into in from a cherry picker and have to spin his cranks to get them set. Way cool!

Would love to see that Trev. I could never do them properly only a normal cherry picker and I ain't done one of them since I was about 16!

For me, I'd love to see Sir Bob ride again....  :smitten:

Isn't fiola still riding on/off nowadays?  ???

Us northerners couldn't afford coasters. (or shandy) ;D

I always found pedal pickers easier than cherry pickers. maybe because on cherry pickers i always had brake bolts ripping into my trainers and digging into my foot.

Ok point taken, did you not make the little plastic plate thingy and zip tie it over you brake bolt to save ripping your vans, i remember making one out of a haro no plate :idiot2:

You must have missed me then! Havn't done 'em in a while, but it was a half decade off the pegs onto the pedals. Used to tailwhip out to decade and once did pedalpicker to decade - kinda like a double decade with a pedalpicker in the middle. Possibly the best trick I ever pulled. Only pulled it once mind....

I had thought about it plenty of times, but never really did it. I did use to pull the back wheel as far back as i could so my foot would fit in just below the brake bolt.

Sorry Gary, must have miss that. :(

I did love a pedal picker to decade (in the double decade style).  I used to do them a lot. It was the best practice for learning double decades.

I do know for a fact the Eddie fiola was crying like a spoilt brat to Geoff Barraclough that Jess Dyrenforth was going to high and making him look bad on the tour in 85. And I mean crying like a girl tears sobbing the full works saying you guys dont understand all these people are here to see me and I must go the highest. Sad but true.

interesting read
