National race series 2009 info
« on: January 25, 2008, 11:22 PM »
These dates are now history, look out for the 2010 dates coming soon in a thread near here :daumenhoch:

The BMX National Series is now confirmed and will take place over 8 weekends giving riders the opportunity to race over 12 rounds.  The series starts in the South West at Burnham-On-Sea, stays in the South West for the next round before moving to the Midlands with races at Mansfield and Chesterfield.  It's a welcome return to national racing at Mansfield who have a very impressive revamped track.  We head up to pastures new at Hartlepool for the next round.  For those unfamiliar with Hartlepool, the track is located in picturesque Summerhill Country Park and has an amazing 6 straights.  It's back down to Burnham in July, then back up north to sample Coppull's hotpot, then over to neighbours Preston for the last round in October.

11-12 Oct       Round 12                Preston                 www.prestonpirates.co.uk

This year's British Championships will take place at Orton Malborne, near Peterborough.  The club have a few changes planned, but nothing major to the track other than to revamp the rhythm section.  Any rider wishing to race the British Championships must have a BC membership valid for the whole of 2008 and must also have qualified through their own summer region series.  It's early days, but it is the aim to televise the Brits as per 2007.

23-24 August    British Championships   Peterborough            www.phantomsbmx.ukonline.co.uk

Im only gonna race the Saturday as have to balance the family things with the racing. That said I can either do enough Nationals to qualify or go out to Spain in September, for a week on the DH bike, (Switchbacks). If I end up doing OK on Saturday, a phone call, and a night sleeping in the car may have be on the cards, and forget spain. Best make sure I take a sleeping bag....  :D

Matt it is a double header so racing is on Saturday and Sunday two meetings over one weekend so you will need to get soemone to register you if you are not going on Friday / Sat early am

Is it me or is Burnhams website useless? I can't find anything in the way of directions or a map. Not entirely sure about going down as the forecast ain't great and I'd only be going to photograph it, but it'd be helpful to know where to point the ol' banger if I do decide to.
