someone told him he needed new ones for his tuffs 

I dont know. I had all kinds of crap nailed to my wall at home. A massive colection of coke cans (I used to drink loads of it) and bike parts everywhere (there is a opc and chainring on the wall behind me?).

1. spray painting my yellow tuffs white

2. Putting griptape on my seat then wondering why i developed a hole in the arse of my "aero" pants

3. Spraying WD40 over my rims to stop the brakes squealing

4. giving away my prolite CC

My beloved ACE frame snapped, money was scarce so I grabbed some steel table legs of a school desk, my dads mate welded it up for me, this wouldnt have been so bad except I got him to extend the TT to 21", because we didnt change any other angles I couldnt get the front end up unless I was leaning right over the back of the bike

I still managed to beat Sid Salisbury at rOm race on it

i only made improvements to my bike 

although cutting one end of the bars and inch shorter to make x ups easier was a bit

Stripping all the paint off my '87 yellow Master, just 'coz it had started to wear off on the toptubes near the seatclamp. Buying a Curtis Freestyler instead of a Haro or Performer in late '84. Giving my remodelled, resprayed and restickered '87 Master to Amos Burke who promptly took all the stickers off, wrecked the chainstays then gave it away.... I'm sure there will be more "mistakes". I'll post when I remember some....
