Powder Coating Curing Oven

I am going to build a powdercoating oven and wondered if anyone knew the best approach. I was going to butcher a standard double electric oven(cut out the dividing floor) so i could hang frames in it but i dont know if this will work. I found a site that mentions using an electric heater and foil backed gyproc to make the carcass. I understand about airflows and keeping the heat the same temp in each part of the oven... Will i be able to get this kind of oven hot enough to make the powder flow?? Any help or pointers would be appreciated..... thx
  Also does anyone know much about the new UV cure powders... they are supposed to require lower heats to flow and cure instantly in UV light.

you will need a pretty big oven as me mates is huge
as the last one was a tight squeeze ti fit frames
cost him about 20. grand tho lol

The problem you have is to keep the frame statically charged (thats how the powder sticks, isn't it?) and getting it into the oven. At proper powder coaters, they hang the bits on a conveyer, which they spray the bits and then it slides in the oven to cure.

na once the powder is on the frame its doesnt need to be static
plus if u heat it first it starts curing b4 going to the oven

I will be suspending the frames when powdering from a wire which in turn will be suspended from an old loop of inner tube. I think as long as i dont earth the frame the powder particles should retain their charge and stick. Some info i trawled up on the net says this:
 The powder will remain attached to the part as long as some of the electrostatic charge remains on the powder.

You can buy home kits for diy powder coating etc,using your home oven,small parts only

  I would love to paint them as they should be...but i am a clutz... I paint a door and it looks like a 5 year old did it....you should see my decal applying skills too . My sisters kid puts stickers on the fridge straighter.
 I thought one of you guys might have an oven they built themselves :santa_smiley:
