sanding aloy rims??
« on: January 10, 2008, 05:13 PM »
i got a pair of ukai rims  that im wanting to polish
ive had a go at sticking drill polishing mop on them.
but it wasnt doing anything :-[
i had to get the 80grit out and work down
but its took me 1hr just to do the space between 2 spoke holes

does anyone know of a good tool i could use  to sand the rim prior to polishing?? :) :)

100% sure they're anno'd in some way.
Alloy doesn't last long without a protective coat, especially BMX rims !

if you wanna give them a light sand to get any little nicks out.. get your self a mouse sander.
You get them v shape pads with it, but they are to course so get a sheet of wet &dry 600-1000 and stick/glue it to the pad then cut round the shape. then sand away :) you can work up the grades , then your ready for a good polish.....  :smitten:
