I'm picking up my first BMX after a 21 year break...I'm getting a cruiser (from SE-Bmxer :-) ) and wondered what crank lenth people run on these. I was thinking of running 170's as I'm only a bit taller than Spen 5ft 7in 29" leg.....

I DONT KNOW WAT LENGTH ARE ON YA CRUISER BUT I AM 5,10 AND FIND 175 CRANKS JUST RIGHT FOR ME

BUT IF I WERE YOU I WOULD STEER AWAY FROM 170S TOO SHORT

I'm only 5"6 and have 180's on my cruiser and changed from 175 to 180 on my 20inch old skool and love em

I've ran 185mm since I was 17'teen... with a Ti' axle....

Justin Green (90's AA pro) used to run 190mm...

i love 180's, dont know how much diff 5mm actually makes but psychologically i cant use 175's, ive got profile 182's on my elf

170mm is too short, Pete.

Try 175mm or 180mm.

I've got 180mm on my BMX bikes and 175mm on my mountain bikes.

I was using 180mm twin pinch Redlines, then tried my 175mm Pro Class Cranks and loved them. So swapped my 180mm twins for 175mm twins with Tony796.

I thought the 170mm were more for freestyle bikes rather than race bikes. But I had them on my Redline and they were fine, didn't even really notice the difference.

I'm more or less with you there Mike.

I used the 180's for years on BMX's, now i use 177s on both 20" and cruiser. (175 on my mtb). I'm 6 foot, but I've got a long body and only 32" legs.

If I had legs as long as Flem's I'd be on 185's too.

I'm 5' 10" with 32" legs and have used 185mm since I was 14, never looked back I love them and have them on just about every bike I have but if I was advising anybody then 180mm is a great general purpose length.

I m 5"6 and use 180mm it works ok for me. Oh yeh thats 5"6 in my cubans.

185mm means you don't have to spin as fast as you did as a youngster also... harder gearing, more leverage... gets this old timer over Dag's doub's

Don't think I'll get them, need to improve the bike skills first + Like I said don't think the place for clip’s is on the track just wondered what other people ran...............although considering the leather chaps you recommended for this season

Just need to find a leather cap I can fit on top of my helmet

I'm running 180's on my Torker and Brew cruisers, with 185's on my 20" Free Agent. (Not tried the long 'ens yet, but recon I'll run a slightly harder gearing with them.)

That's assuming I ever get to ride - fingers crossed cos I haven't ridden a bike since MK in the summer.
