Newbie 85 GT pro Series out the attic pics
« on: January 08, 2008, 01:24 AM »
Got the GT out today, front tyre wont go back up, will get new tubes & rim tapes tomorrow, changed the inner brake cable, one of the crank arms is loose..nothing magor. The tyre stays up for 5 mins so had a little blast on it, rides nice & smooth. The pad set & race plate are up my mums attic with my Aero Pro, so will have a look what else is there, i know i have another set of flite's, the original wheeels from the Aero as its skyways now & a few other bits & bobs. Will get some more pic when I go there next.

Heres the GT pics, its a 85 model

Had to get the S1 in there somewhere,

spec;

GT Pro Series Frame & Fork
GT Bars
Epoch GT headset
400 flite Cranks
Suntour Beartraps
Pro Class rims
GT Sealed hubs
Dia Compe MX Brakes
Hutch Stem
Hutch doughnut seatclamp
Elina flyte Tech seat
shimano DX post (early alloy mountain bike, better mounting system)
Tuffneck chain wheel 42T at present
comp III's 20 x 1.50 front & rear, bald as fook

Dont take any notice of the grips, the am's had sort of melted, so had to put on what i found in the shed  :o

Spokes were chrome & have flaked, but with a bit of TLC could nice :thumb:

MENTAL!

I had a DX seat post on my old BTB back in the late 80's! I always thought they were familiar!

Maybe the shop just had a load left over and put them on the bike i bought.?

Great seatposts them DX's go for good money these days - especially in mint condition - thought the mountain bike connection might havef been a way of soucing one at a reasonable price.

Thanks for the info though

I built it from a frame set, with most of the parts coming over from my Aero Pro in the begining. Then slowly changed every part as the shop owner would sell me something at cost & could earn the money to pay. I worked in my old mans garage on weekends, holidays, & in the bike shop after school. did more hours then than i do now thats for sure !  :2funny:

Was a bit of a naff name  :D

Thanks mate, I have to say I loved it then, & still do now. Would strip it to a frame once a week, clean, greese, oil, everything. Put it back togeter, go out for a hour, come back & then check everything was still as it should, then clean it & put it to bed !

have some great memorys of some great times with that bike. Think I will resto it one day but enjoy taking it out to much, supose when im to old to wheelie it I will retire it. No sign at the moment though  :2funny:

I'm from Cardiff and used to get my stuff from 2 Hot 4U and Dragon Wheels and Tom Martin before that. Bought Ben Dickinson's lavender Performer off him through 2 Hot 4U, he had one of those GT / shop sponsorship deals too, I'm guessing you might know him....Nipper Reardon etc etc. Welsh denny on here was part of those days too - Matthew Dyer ring a bell?

Yes mate, used to ride the ramp room on north road with them, just round the corner from the Reardon's. See Ben from time to timebut not for a while. Them were the days

Everyone went to Tom, remember the first time I went there, a mate called Gary Bailey, now Bailey Roofing, took me there. Then Dragon wheels opened around the corner, & then one of the partners from there opened 2 hot 4 U.

Where did you used to ride then ???

Welsh Denny put some videos on youtube of reardons warehouse. Mike Cameron, Mike Canning, the Reardons all on there.
