pitbull brake
« on: December 30, 2007, 11:35 PM »
just got one of these dont know if it's a 1 or 2, is it possible to strip and clean or re-paint, read some where about a brake with loads of bearings that fall out if you pull them apart, if anyone has any set-up diagrams that would be helpful too.
Seen some where a seat clamp with a built in cable guide thingy is that ness. or is that on a different version?????

cheers
Gary

Ignore the rat   ::)  :LolLolLolLol:

they're great brakes

the BOA has a million tiny ball bearings so your safe there

the mk 1 pitbull has a single bolt to mount on to a regular OS brake fitment
the seat post thing gets used a lot cos the PB is a centre cable route

bolt it on and use a decent cable and if you can a sprung lever

cheers Kev

the pitbull 2 fits exactly the same as a 1 but different design, when fitting it put a spring between the cam plate n the adjuster, this helps the brake return and feel smoother, ive done it to mt pitbull 1 and also on both these pitbull 2's

once you get the stretch outa the cable these brakes work amazin :daumenhoch:

i got a slick linear cable as well
no stretchy-ness there

didn't know the 2's fitted the same way
not seen one up close
T1000's  :smitten:

i didn't use the cable locator that came with the brake prefered the posi stop
hence no spring for me  :(

thats the only weak point with PB's  the return of the cam after braking
make sure its clean and greased in its tracks
the springs will def help as would a sprung lever - all help it go back

 :daumenhoch:

these and BOAs are my fav OS brakes - cos they work  :daumenhoch:
cheers Kev

I need to get a spring, had trouble with the return when racing, a quick squirt of wd40 did the trick but it was muddy :LolLolLolLol:
