Help to identify unknown frame (Please!)
« on: January 06, 2008, 10:30 PM »
Hi,

During a garage clearout an old 1980's BMX frame surfaced (I'm still looking for the forks and bars!). I would be grateful if someone could help me identify the frame.

Thanks

Yep, along with the Tuff II's and the MK1 EZ Bars (don't laugh if you see the photo!). I did think of a rebuild but wouldn't know where to start and I just don't have the time.

That'll teach me to not read through the forum before posting  :-[

I've had so many people asking me who made the frame I thought I would drop in and see if you could help me out.

Heh yeah. I mailed you via Ebay and asked for serial number etc. I take it there are absolutely no distinguishing marks on it at all then? Nothing on the bottom of the bottom bracket, or on the dropouts? Any painted over stickers? Paint peeling in certain places showing other paint beneath? Anything that might help really.

I couldn't find any serial or manufacturers stamp. I'll have another look tomorrow when I take a few photos of the welds.

Could it be a Faze 7 as in this post in the RADBMX Museum

You could be onto a winner there. Here's a comparison pic

The only difference I can see is the coaster bracket at the back. But that may be solely due to the angles at which both pics were taken.

it looks like a faze 7 alright
if the gusset between the top tubes (looking from above) is curved!
also the coaster anchor is integral with the rear dropout

these only came in colours

if you have a chrome one, then it's a rebel freestyler

i have the forks for mine too :)

and before i stripped it, i took photos of the decals, and redrew them all ready to be remade by our resident sticker master.

my faze 7 a couple of years ago, when it was pink

it's stripped again now, and in 2k primer ready for a funky paint job

The gusset is curved and here is a shot of the rear dropout:

Looking at the paint, looks like the original colour was green? (Did they offer green?)

I assume the handlebars are Skyway MKI EZ Bars, here's a pic:

the frames were about in 86 so fruity colours were the order of the day

i think faze 7 would do custom colours

i think your frame is the 3rd streetstyler frame i have seen
