What do you think. I've just put some black ally hubbed Skyways on my black Patterson. Not sure what to think really.
I'll take a picture at the weekend and post it.

its not really the "done thing" BUT if it looks good then i'd say it works :santa_afro:

i personally love Skyways, they epitomise Old School BMX & are an instantly recognisable icon of that era!

I have got some 24" skyways on my new school cruiser. Whilst they look fantastic it does make the bike and especially the front end feel heavy

shouldn't it be graphite's on a Race bike?

Tim March rode with graphites didn't he? - I remember a pic of him jumping Kong with a pair...

Patterson pic has them on also - other I remember from bitd racing were Raleigh's John Lee - can't think of anyone else right now.

I've seen a few Pattersons with Tuffs and I think they look great. Bang them on and send in pics. :santa_afro:

Only graphites are acceptable race fodder.......if you want to be able to race the bike. You will soon be changing them back to alloys if you do try to race.....especially knowing how competative you are.

tuffs on race bikes look class, they emphisise the f/f, the f/f on race bikes usually get lost in a load of shiny spokey shite, i raced tuffs on my GHP BITD and no one suggested i should use alloys, even Mr Ruff said he loved it. Im puttin white ones on my GHP build, bollox to what is thought of as correct now, break the rules and achieve that true oldschool feel.

Graphites.... mmmmmm i always wanted a set. Andy Patterson used to use them too. Tim March ran them on his 20inch and Cruiser setups.
Does anyone have a set of the new Skyway Graphite CFs. I thought about buying a set from the states for my black vector but wanted some feedback first. I know they are stiffer than regular skyways but whats the weight like etc.?
I raced Yellow Tuffs on my Torker at Derby Greyhound stadium. It wasn't a wise choice and the Gold 7xs were back on the bike that very night.

Jay Lewis ran the whole season on his Mongoose Craig Reynolds with black ally hubbed Tuffs & he is quick ! , Smooth too .

The new graphites are much stiffer than the normal plastic ones, I use them on my T/A for old school races and they seem fine.

However they wasn`t quite up to freestyling use, but they took a good beating first :

Were you selling your Skyway Ta at ROM Skatepark in 1983 with a flight bag and everything? I am sure it was yours in the main building part where you pay... Had a sign on it saying Billy Stupples Skyway Ta.. It was up for Â£250 if i remember. I had Â£120 in the bank and tried selling my Hutch at the park to anyone who would buy it just to try to get the Skyway.... FLASHBACK!! :santa_shocked:
