how much should i be paying to ship a cruiser F&F from the US.the guy is saying $320 by usps.happy new year people.

Jesus that's high. I think I paid $150 to get a GT f&f shipped over by airmail.

EDIT: Just checked, it was $75 shipping, I thought is was 75 GBP

i just got a mongoose 81 frame sent $50 took 5 days to my door..and before that (november) had a expert f&f, bars, stem, and crank sent $80 took 7 days.

That is incredibly expensive.  I had a frame shipped from the US 2 weeks ago and it cost me £40.  14lbs is a really heavy frame, what is it a frame for?  A Tank!

Tell the seller to use USPS Global Priority Air Mail (4-10 day delivery), that is what I always use and never pay more than £50.

It might be my 1st bmx a it was a straton that weighed about half a ton it was soild cast iron post some pics when it comes would to see her again might shed a tear or 2

Boofy - Ive just had a full bike shipped from the US using USPS and it cost me $120 so no idea where your seller is getting that figure from.

Also be careful with Import Tax if he is declaring it's full value for customs and insurance. If they send it as a gift the max value before tax is charged is £36. No matter what, if you don't pay it they will send it back.

If he has insured it for what you are paying for it, then you will get stung. I had to pay £125 import tax once, for this very reason, on a Frameset from Oz. Ouch!

The bike I just got was sent as a gift valued at $60 and marked as used bike parts. It was sent USPS Global Priority mail took five days and is tracked so is pretty secure.

If you can, get him to send this way otherwise it could be costly.

The "send as gift" thing is pretty hit and miss. I had some stuff shipped over from the US marked gift and I still got stung for import duty on more than one occasion.

i just had a complete pro class 24 sent from usa and shipping was $55, import tax was £142    fooking more than the bike cost. just waiting for a mightygoose to turn up,wonder how much tax ill get stung on that

Shipping on a f&f from US should be around $100 max.

Sending stuff the other way is when it gets expensive for them.

14lbs is 7 kg's or so, which for a cruiser f+f won't be too bad a weight if it is in a heavy duty box, some are quite hefty!

The import duty is one thing you can avoid legitimately, but it is the vat that is getting more difficult to avoid. The vat is charged on the declared value of the goods plus the shipping costs.

Bear in mind if something is labeled as a gift with value below £36 then the insured value will match that - not worth the risk in my view of  loosing the goods!!
