handlebar advice
« on: January 04, 2008, 01:39 PM »
Hi All

Am doing a restoration job on my old firebird freestyler and dont know what to do about bars?

I had diamond back pro bars on it BITD but they are pretty rusty now.

Question is this: shall i get em re-chromed? shall i go for the cheaper option of getting em powder coated white? or shall i just scrap em and buy some NOS bars?

If i go for the NOS option what sort should i be looking out for ?

Cheers in advance

try the oxalic acid bath first, that will remove the rust and you can then see if the chrome does actually need re-doing, or you could then get them powdered.

s&m slams are a good match for old skool bars - i've used them on a few builds and they match up good

would it be a total travesty to fit some skyway bars?

Just had a look on vert-ego. skyway bars ar quite cheap. only 15 quid?

Are they NOS or are they just new ones. All this NOS is very confusing
