Are these levers tech 7's ?
« on: January 03, 2008, 08:52 PM »
I have a few of these levers and they are dia compe for sure, i know there pretty nice items, but im not dead sure what models they are. Are they tech 6's or 7's, or if not does anyone know the exact model designation. They have an odd type of bracket that clips together rather than open on a hinge like most do.

All I can tell you is it's not a 7 or a 77.  They are basically the same - the 7 has no locking button, the 77 does. But they both have hinges, which rules your lever out.  :)

I just took this one to bits with an allen key and the T section piece on the lever kind of slips into the bracket. It seems that to fit them on the bars you probably have to remove the grip and slide em on, i doubt they would fit on easily by seperating the bracket and trying to connect the bracket around the bar. There a weird kind of fitting.

No you could remove the one I had without removing the grip first, forgot to say mine didn't have the Potts II button on it.

yeah i remember them being called aerial levers too. a mate had them with nippons (883's?) on his ride in the late 80's.

he had them around the same time i was using acs tangent levers.

Brian ;)

the lever on the 87 group one RS1 according to the 87 catalog is a variation of the Dia Compe Tech 6 with button. The RS2 and 3 came with normal Tech 6

the master had what were referred to as aerial levers but cant find any more info.
