Redline 41T chainring
« on: January 02, 2008, 08:00 PM »
Evening all
I have an early 80s 41t redline chainring that I am going to fit to my PK. Maybe a dumb question but do I need a particular size chainwheel other than 16t?Also what about chain size. Only used 44t and 16t before.  :-\
cheers
Dan

That will give you a really low gear - very spinny with fast acceleration but no real top top speed.  It's difficult to get a regular old school BMX freewheel lower than 16t, ACS used to do a 15t but if you are using a flip-flop hub (threads both sides) then on the smaller side you can fit as low as 13t which would give you a much better gearing closer to a 44/16.  Chain will need to be 1/8 for the Redline Chainring.

Thanks for that. Think I will stick with the 16t as The bike is unlikely to be ridden much given the time and money I have put into this PK. Will post pics soon. :daumenhoch:
