Handlebar idnetification (plus prolite pics)
« on: December 02, 2007, 09:12 PM »
I have just been in the loft to take a look at my new project, but I need clarification on the bars.
They look like Skyway EZ bars.
For some reason in my mind I thought they where Woody Itson Rock bars, but can't find these or any reference to them anywhere.
Can someone take a look and let me kow if I am way off or if they are EZ?

Cheers...Steve

Had a spare hour so took a couple of pics.

I bought the f+f in 84/85 - brand new

Sold it in 87 and then by fluke got it back in 90 for nothing.

What was meant to be was meant to be.  :smitten:

I am going to get it re-chromed. I have seen the sticky about chromers, but can anyone point me in the direction of a thread about frame prep. As you can see there is some rust on this baby.

Also can't find any frame numbers.any clues ??

Mate,

Whatever you do, dont rechrome it! Stick it in some Oxalic acid. That will come up a treat! I promise!

Then it really will be your original bike.  ;) Even them bars will come up nice with oxalic and a polish.

Oxalic acid sounds dodgy? who would do that for me or could I do it myself?

Why not re-chrome it?

Looks good mate.

Do you think the bit behind the bottom bracket will come up ok?

100% mate if you polish it afterwards. If the rust has eaten through the chrome then obviously the chrome wont grow back! :LolLolLolLol: It would need a rechrome then or a powder.

It will never be perfect again unfortunatley like it was when new BUT in my opinion it wont be even if you get it rechromed. Unless you strip the chrome that is on it now and then polish the life out of the frame in all of the awkward areas like behind the bb, the chrome nearly always looks tarnished/gold effect or like they have put the chrome over sand particals. Most rechromers cannot get their tools in those hard to get areas. I hate rechrome.

For the sake of £40 give it a go mate.

Hmmm, you sure those bars a Skyway EZ? I'm just wondering if those 'Rock Bars' stickers couldn't actually be original and the bars be ones made by Curtis for Paul 'Rock' Hudson.
