Scorpion TX
« on: December 09, 2007, 08:15 PM »
Took this little ride to Epic last night and thought it would be good to show everyone what I was hoping to acheive and how the restoration went.

Firstly, my first BMX bike from bitd; a Scorpion TX with a Mongoose Gold Stem and an ACS Z-rim (while waiting for a replacment Tuff II from Alpine Sports).

My holy grail was all about re-building this bike but where to start?

I found this on ebay...

Started a parts hunt and then set about some restoration work...

Sent the frame and forks to the paintmeister SuperbikeDan...

Got some decals made up (thanks Cheekythirtysix) and ended up with all this...

I put it all together for EPIC...

A classic 1980 all round BMX Bike  :daumenhoch:

Marty

It was so cool to meet you and check out your Scorpion last night at Creation. So much work and effort that went into creating your rider from back in the day.

Bikes like that are harder to restore than your average Ripper, TA, etc etc. The parts are few and far between and decals have to re created from scatch.

Excellent work fella  :4_17_5:

That is so cool Marty, as I mentioned before, this was the 1st BMX I ever owned when my family moved to the US.  Mine was blue though.

Great pictures mate and super build.
