i think that will hit £800 +. tis very rare the rewelds and other nos ones knocking around were 84 so this being a chrome 83 is very rare. still would not pay that though

Now whoever buys it needs to set aside another £1500 for those NOS graphites that were being touted on here recently, bloody hell you could end up with a £6K TA!!! :idiot2:

I know I'm new to this collectors scene but £800 doesn't seem too stupid, it looks like £400-£500 is the going price for a frameset on ebay right now and a bit of perspective, I can't really remember but these things were what, nearly £250-300 new BITD? £800 BNIB seems like a steal but I reckon it will go for a grand.

You know what's funny, i'm building Darren Woods old TA and Tom Lynch's Patterson and JESUS THESE THINGS WEIGH A TON!!! I can't beleive we rode bikes that heavy back then!

the rewelded ones also had 2 left handed, or right handed - can't remember which, fork dropouts (so the skyway stamp is on the inside of the dropout)

They were not as nicely welded either.

I bought a box off ebay a couple of years ago for my mint chrome one...sound investment.

i hope it does fly up in price, and may help me sell the tubes  :knuppel2:

just checked the serial and its 11-85  0025298

i agree with Munners thou, that box does look kinda factory fresh with modern design,

if it makes more than £650, mine will go back to cali to get sorted,  and does have either 2 left or 2 right front fork drop outs (cant remember).

I'd say it was 99% sure to be a re-weld one, even in a loft it would not look that good after 20 plus years.

Its deffo the real mccoy! I was told they did a few rewelded ones in chrome. Not sure how many. Saying that though, who is to say that someone got a few of those rewelded ones and just went out and got them chromed? The chrome job would be pretty good as the tubing would be good with no rust etc on it. There's just so many people out there selling snidey stuff! Like that chrome 'prototype' Streat beat with TA decals on it that was found to be just a chromed normal one! Cheaters!

Well, if it is an original one from 1983 lets hope it gets back to the US in one piece!

I know that most of the rewelded ones had 86 serial numbers but lets not forget they were built up with bits of tubing left over. There would have been a box full of already stamped bottom brackets and it is possible an 83 one was still kicking about.

Having said that, I think the one just sold also has a curved brake bridge which only early ones had.

I shall be wrapping my mint one up in cotton wool!
