Zero Tolerance - Jon Pratts Video from 1997
« on: December 03, 2007, 08:28 AM »
Typical. I dug out this video last week to transfer it to DVD and Jon goes and puts in on line!
Here is what is said about it on 'fatbmx'

Jon Pratt has put some time into getting the Zero Tolerance movie online. Most of the footage was filmed in 1996. It includes:
-Backyard jam 1996
-KOC, Southsea England 1996
-Worlds, Koln, Germany 1996
-Hoffman Florida contest 1996
-lots of local Southsea stuff
-and Northampton and Wakefield.

Most of it was filmed on video 8 and hi8 (pre digital days) and edited on panasonic umatic editing decks (tape roll analogue ones) Effraim Catlow, Dave Beveridge and Ronnie Remo helped out with the filming too... I guess that's about it.

Wow....  10 years ago and it seems like yesterday   :(

I recall getting a lot of complaints about that 1/4 in the corner of the rink at Southsea with the big subbox on it.  Too big apparently...

Taj's downside whips at Backyard seemed so funky back then   :daumenhoch:

Took me right back!

Jon did another vid called Spacial Awareness hopefully he'll put it up too.

Anyone remember when he nearly killed himself at Wakefield flipping the spine?

Was it 96 when Galley threw a ma-hoosive 360 to fakie on vert?  I think he did a couple of back to back 5's then lobbed a lazy 360 in several feet out as I recall.  Rad as fook.

Spacial Awareness?   Was that the one with Concrete Jungle as the track to the Southsea section?

You know that.  Midschool only really refers to the bike technology doesn't it?  Are there any midschool tricks that you no longer see?

I can still smell that stream from Backyard....  Shawn Butler made it over I think, but bailed on the way.  We all knew Wingham was getting wet   :LolLolLolLol:

Every time I watch a video from the mid 90s I get reminded just how good Richard Brown was. I think it was 94 or 96 that he won, even tho he wasnt even going to enter!

I was pretty pleased when this vid came out. I went to the worlds to watch, and I had a few runs on the massive spine mini. I got a few tricks in the Video from that little ride, even tho I felt well below the US guys, who kicked the spine ramps arse!

Yeah, Richard Brown was rad as hell. I really looked up to him as a rider early on. Made it so much harder when we fell out............

Does he still ride?

Haha, apart from me, was there anyone you DIDNT fall out with in the 90s Rob?  :LolLolLolLol:

THe last time I saw Richard, he was just especting a kid, and that was enough to effectively take me out of riding for a few years. He also had a very strange eye after hitting his head. It was like he had put a glass of milk to his eye. The colour of his eye, the skin around his eye, and his eyebrow had all gone white! Very strange.

I would guess that Mason or Jerry might know what he is up to now.

Only because we never met Al........  :knuppel2:

 :LolLolLolLol:

It was all part of the same 'incident' I told you about.  So whilst it seems like I did nowt but row in the 90s, in fact in 7 years of working and riding within the sport I only had the one falling out.

I'm just a bitter old bastard........   ;D ;D ;D

I think you should tell us your story Rob.  We all like a bit of drama.

Was it Richard Brown who snapped the headtube off his Dirt Bike at Southsea?

I think that was him. He had a white PK for a while, then probably the dirtbike, and a standard for a bit (lengthy I guess). The last time I saw him he was on a dirtbike again I think.

He was a postman

It was indeed Richard.  I believe he heard it go on the jump before, but decided to carry on anyhoo.  He had a cool flip style too, long laid out loops that looked a treat  :)

my god is that a good vid of the 90s,  so so good, the riding and trick level would not be out of place today :daumenhoch:

it's like a charlton sesh i've seen with twobob, s&m alex and clagget,  four pegs, front brakes and using them,

i know i am a dinosar from the early 80s  but how much would i have loved to be part of the 90s era,

respect from me  :4_17_5:

I mentioned this in another thread, there aren't any midschool tricks that aren't still pulled today.
