I dont know much about race stuff, but they look like newish cranks to me. That chainring has got 'CNC' written all over it. What type of BB/bearings/spindle do they take, and whats with the offset on the spindle cap?

You might all know this, but thats what sprang to mind when I saw them.

Alex,
They are old school shimano DX cranks and had adjustable lengths built into eccentric pedal bosses

Pretty rare and VERY sweet  :smitten:

 :) DINGO :)

knw the crank would get a bit of intrest, had a blue on and a red one, they went for 2-300 but never seen a gold one before, it really does look something else, esp the quality of the adjustment on the pedals, the tuffs have just the plastic hubs! this stuff has been sittin for years in a shop of a friend of mine, hes the original owner and still owns the shop and its where i got all my stuff 25 years ago  (the tuffs prob have came in at a later date than the rest of the stuff)  so it genuine old school
anyone any clue on the frame?
might be partin with it all for the one thing i really want 84-85 gt pro performer!

Cool, thanks for coming to my rescue Dingo. Like I said, I dont know much about racing stuff. So that big lookin end is the pedal end? What is with the splined lookin part on the back of it? To lock the adjustable pedal thread in place I guess. I still think it looks CNCed ... but I guess that is why they were top end stuff.

Are these the ones from that old DX add with the pedals and cranks flying across a black background?

The splined part is the pedal adjustment, I think they went from 170mm to 180mm and the splines are so the adjustments are accurate I guess? (like the eccentric BB on track bikes)
I think they were cold forged then machined to finish (somewhere in the back of my head this all rings true but I could be wrong  :LolLolLolLol: )

 :) DINGO :)
