Author Topic: My OF3 Weekend away riding (Read 10050 times)

This weekend I went on a little riding trip. Its been a long while since I had a whole 2 nights away from home riding and Ive been looking forward to this trip for some time. It was arranged mainly by ‘General Lee’ Steve. It is the 3rd “old fools” trip, which is a meet up of the South West riders who used to ride together quite a lot in the 90s.

I met Geoff Cain at Doug Cains house at 6:30 Friday morning and we drove down to Mt Hawk (near Newquay). We got there for about 11 and got straight on with riding. The new park rules and is well worth a visit.

We then piled to St Agnes and crammed into hotel rooms and after something to eat, we took a walk to a local pub. A cover band were playing and I think it might have been their best gig ever … I have no idea why we weren’t kicked out of the place. Rad night.

Then, after a short sleep, it was off to the concrete or Camborne, and then to the wood of Newquey park. Both good sessions, if a little cold.

Finally it was back to Steves house for some mid school vids and a BBQ (?). Loads more fun and good times. We wanted to head on back so we hit the road soon after 11 and I got to my house at 3am Sunday morning. A totally stunning weekend where the time off the bike was every bit as good as the time on it, and the time on it was top notch.

Thanks steve and everyone else who made it (several radbmx members). Looking forward to the next one!

Arrive at Mt Hawk skatepark

The whole OF3 crew. Even at ripe old ages nearly all are still riding … and some of them really f-ing good too!

Dinner and rooms for the night at St Agnes Hotel

On to a pub for out and out mayhem.

Up the next day for the second “B” in the B&B, and then into the cars

Bit if riding at the Camborne bowls, and the only riding shots Im going to post

The rest of Saturday was at Newquey but I didn’t take any pics. Then back to Steves for Vids and hanging out.

Then we packed up and headed back home. We even took shifts of driving

Bye bye Cain brothers … till next time

Back home … 3am …. In time for 4 hours sleep before my boys wake up and normal life kicks off again

Northern John and his NS Street riding mate came all the way down from ..... the north, for the trip. John went to Uni in cornwall so he was part of the SW riding scean in the 90s. He rocked the whole weekendr riding and partying hard. He even got a lift back to the Hotel from a total hottie in hot pants. John Rules!

The girls were young .... but the lad chatting to them is only 19 ... even if John is a bit older. John asked one of the girls to lick his under arm, and she did! At that point I walked away. Under age girls who will lick Johns under arm just spells danger to me!!!

tbh when i see pics and stories like yours, my mind wonders back to germany

John is from Southport. It was a very cold weekend but John and his mate spent the whole time in T-shirts! They said it was nice and sunny, no need for anything else!

It was an amazing weekend - here's a couple of shots from nequay ... oh they both appear to be me!

driveway feeble grind to double peg - I just 180'd into this from the transition and made the rollback and rideout - v chuffed!

Same driveway - different line- abubaca on a very waxy piece of coping - made the rollback too which I always struggle with!

There was some awesome riding by the other memebers, way better than me, just wanted to share these two pics!

A real weekend to remember. Thanks to all involved.Seeing as steve has added pics of himself heres one of me from the trip.Really happy with this pic as i never get this flat normally.

We are gathering all the photos from the weekend. There are 230 so far!!
There is also Video footage. A DVD, with photo section will be done soon.
