Streat beat fork question?
« on: November 28, 2005, 11:57 PM »
Ok,i just noticed that on the 2nd beat i have owned the forks are different? the first had aero shape forks with the arrow cut in the bottom, similar to TA forks/? and the 2nd are round with a solid bottom with no cut outs in the drop out? is this just down to year of manufacture or what? answers if you know, please? ;)

Mk1 beats came with round tubed forks. Mk2 beat forks also had round tubed forks with holes in half way up for pegs. No beats had the Aero tubed ones like the TA.

Fact

I've never seen aero shaped Streetbeat forks with the arrow cut-out in the drop-out. There was a different fork between the ones Radhab is talking about. They were introduced in '86 and were tapered with a 'bolonga' type cut and 'SKYWAY' stamped in them.

I do know that as already mentioned, the first forks sometimes had the cut-out and sometimes didn't, but I'm sure they were always round. I think the ones without the cut-out are later as you also see these on early '86 model SB's

'85 Streetbeat fork with cut-out

'85-'86 Streetbeat fork without cut-out (poor picture, I will get a better one tomorrow)

'86-'87 Streetbeat fork
