Herne Bay, Kent
« on: November 01, 2007, 07:49 PM »
Just seen the pics of the Herne Bay track and it looks amazing. Not finished yet but you can see the layout.

Looks like 2008 will be a great year of racing with a proper track at last to practice on. :daumenhoch:

Anyone who lives near that track is a right jammy git.

7 straights and 6 berms of pure radness.

When are they opening to the general public?
A long time ago, in a land far away!

As we don't have oxygen bottles available yet I suspect that OldSkoolSux will warn the OS riders off joining in the sessions  >:D but some will turn up anyway!!  I've done about thirty laps of the track in two sessions and my legs just haven't been the same since.  I'm afraid Sunday's session means I won't be at Braintree as Matt & James just love the new track - it's so rad!!  Humps

Last call for riders to session the new track at Herne Bay.  Check out the thread on BMX Talk for a panoramic pic and an invitation to session tomorrow in the company of some of BMX's finest.  Humps

I would have loved to have gone there today, it is a shame it is the same day as the Braintree race

:4_17_5: popped down to track today for about an hour, thought it was great, yes there's loadsa jumps, not all too big either, managed to jump a couple of sets of doubles. Bearing in mind this now brings riding time up to 3 hours in last 20 years. Should produce some very exciting racing :coolsmiley:

What a session it was at Herne Bay today with some 70 riders, young and old, sessioning the track.  Great to see Spillers#1, Pro-Tec and SE Mark there as well as Mr Magoo,  Mark can claim the honour of being first to run an Old School bike round (Spillers & Pro-Tec ran their crowsers).  As Hudu watched the riders enjoying themselves he must have felt pride in knowing that he'd done a fantastic job in building such a great track and the people of East Kent are in his debt for it.  Hopefully Phil will be down when we officially open.  We must do it again sometime and maybe we'll avoid a clash with the OSWS.  Humps

Now that is by far the best and the longest track I've ever ridden by miles!! literally. smooth and flowing. I was absolutely speechless for the first half hour.
Be warned though, it demands manual and/or jumping skills to ride it at race pace. I'd better get practicing then!

Right, it's agony hearing about how good this track is and not having ridden it yet.

So if the old school race at Ipswich is off on the 17th, who's who for a proper session down there on either the 16th or 17th?

I'm in!

I have to agree, it really is nice, but also agree at racing speeds will be fun trying to keep it to the ground.

Good to read the positives in here.

Remember, an older schooler than you put his heart and soul into it. Don't ever be afraid of what you can wake up in yourself once you face your fears and have fun.  :daumenhoch:

Have fun!
