Hi to all,
As the subject says.. I have some doubt about ACS-Z rims vs Araya 7x.
And would like to have some reviews and opinion about those 2 rims.

diferences, usability, weight, brake power, look, spokes hole, hubs to use with, knowed problems, etc.. etc...

7X's all the way for a rider!!

Z's look cool as! but with a weighty adult riding them you will find they flex alot and will need trueing quite often.

7x all day long
z rims bendy as hell and need trueing all the time ,also crazycraig kept getting punctures with his when they flexed
they look cool in the colours they did but not as good by far

the "Z´s" swing a lot is it?

so.. you only use "Z´s" for Show bike, not for ride it.. or only "lighter" riders.
Well I weight 85kg... maybe they will crack... instead of bend...

Sorry for me it's Z's all the way... proper old school!!!

Try and go for the pre-stamped USA made versions circa 1981... they were made using a thicker strand of the "Nylon Zytel" and were way less flexy!

They look trick as hell in my opinion!

how do I know is the good "one´s"?

I also like the Z more... but I don t to make a "bad decision" or regret taht I shoulded bought 7x instead.

but I was told that Araya is more power braker tha "Z´s"?

need more opinion.

Yeh... those pics you have are the stamped versions ie. lettering printed on the rims sides.... you also show a pic of the later 48 hole rims there as well. Nver had a set of them but would imagine they are quite rigid having the 48 spokes instead of the 36.
I've attached a pic here of my early NOS USA made Z's on my Redline MXII. They have a sticker on the top face of the rim in Red, Blue and Chrome. Also on the inside face of the rim where your inner tube sits they have a small printed date like 'Sept 1982' in black. From memory the outer top face of the rim has embossed lettering in the plastic saying "ACS Z Rim Pat Pending"... I'm not 100% sure but I don't think the later "Stamped" Rims like you show in your pics have this???

Think they look trick on my Redline anyways!

Hope you swing for the Z's...... Arayas are common as muck!!! lol

Gota be zeds i built mine myself from a pair of salvaged rims - sanded them down soaked them in wd40 for a few days and then used that car polish thats coloured - soaked them in that and then used some more wd40 - they look brand new - love em.

Ahhh... Frosty has some interesting pics there! Obviously the "Stamped" UK made Rims with lettering on the sides DO have the embossed ACS Z Rim - Pat Pending lettering

.... but obviously clearly state "Made in England" too - my early Z Rims definately don't have that on them!!!

- so that "Made in England" is the defining way to check if you have early USA made Rims or not

the arayas are superior in every way

but z rims have their place. ride on them and see if they are ok!

still here gra.
i went and bought one of them big buckets from b & q and put me white tuffs in to bleach thinking it would only take a couple of days.
after buying about £20 worth of bleach the fookers are still yella.
i since been told it takes a couple of weeks.

you in a rush for em back gra.

i still got to do my blue tuffs yet that i was gonna put yours in with.

Off the subject a little and onto Dordys problem with his white but still yellow tuffs, i have the same problem. I left mine in for 2 weeks. They are SPOTLESS but still kind of yellow. If you take a picture of them they look as white as David Hasslehoffs teeth so i sort of came to the conclusion that they were never bitd as white as you thought they were and as white as they look on peoples pictures on here!

Perhaps the only way to be sure about Whiter than white Tuffs would be to compare a set of reconditioned old school tuffs against a pair of the new ones they are selling now..... as I presume the Nylon material they use to make em is still the same!!

..... just a tangential thought!
