Euro BB installation
« on: October 25, 2007, 12:22 PM »
I am trying to install a Profile euro BB into my CW mini frame, but I can't seem to get the cups to screw in. One of the cups has a little groove etched into the lip, and I'm assuming that this marks it as the drive-side cup. Can anyone confirm that this is the correct assumption? If it is the correct cup for the drive-side, what direction should I be trying to screw the cup - clockwise or anti-clockwise? I've heard that the drive-side uses a left-handed thread but I'm not sure what that means in terms of the direction the cup should be screwed. Or the direction that the non drive-side should be screwed for that matter. Can anyone help me? Please....

Thanks
Marc

I think you'll find that the drive side screws in clockwise so that when your pedalling its not going to come loose,
the other if ya looking at it goes anti-clockwise so when you look at it both threaded cups are turning towards the
front wheel, this is with the bike on its wheels.

Correct me if im wrong

Thats how I remember it. Both cups tighten up, by screwing towards the front of the bike (when the bike is the right way up).

(But its been a few years since i did a euro BB so that might be the other way round)

Also don't force it if they dont just run in nice ans smooth. I know on the mrd mini I had to get the threads run through again at a local bike shop as the original threads whilst NOS weren't quite clean enough!!
