Scrapyards / Waste Dumps
« on: October 20, 2007, 05:42 PM »
You know, it occured to me the other night in bed that so many people must have take their sons old bikes down the dump to clear space in their garage (since the son's moved out) and probably what they are giving away would sell for a mint  I've seen a half decent fully built Mongoose in the dump in the pile of old racers a few years ago and offered cash and I almost got thrown out the place. Not even a backhander would make them part with their "scrap" as they call it. Fookin unbelievable. Had some decent MX's on it too!  :'(

I'm sure many old bmx's have been dumped to make room, like a Goose, half decent Raleigh or even at TA! I fookin makes me gringe of the thought it  ???

Holy crap! that's what I'm talking about, dad's that just dump the stuff without knowing what its worth. Actually, had me haircut the other day and spoke with the guy that was cutting my hair and he said his old man has 2 old bmx's in a pile of crap in their back garden which they are soon to throw out. All covered up apprantly. I've put a stop to that and said i'll take em. One's deffo a burner from his description and the other one I just don't know? Once I know and if I acquire them cheap I'll wack some photos up here...  :daumenhoch:

yeah i went to my local dump, before i'd even got out the van clocked the burner up against a wall,

asked the bloke how much and he wanted a fiver, so didnt haggle and bought it quick sharp,

i know we all burner bash, but a mk2 burner imho is nearly as good as a t/a  :daumenhoch:

keep looking every time i go, nothing since only a new school mongoose for £10, and wasnt as nice.

a story that my mate told me............hope its not true....but i think it is.  :'(

bitd his mate used to ride for skyway...and had loads of stuff.
raleigh aero pro  burner.
pk ripper
skyway ta
quadangle
all complete bikes,with top bits.
various parts,i think maybe skyway graphites.

anyway all this stuff was still sitting in his mates  dads garage since the 80's,so about 2 years ago my mate got in contact with his mate who obviously didnt  live at home anymore, they got talking and to cut a long story short.he said "go round my dads and take what you want".
needless to say he was well chuffed.......but you've guessed it, he went round there and his mates dad had taken the lot to the local tip about 2 months before they got in contact. :'(   i just hoped some of it was saved by someone.

imagine seeing someone tipping that lot
