I went round to Geoff Cains last night and stole this picture. It’s a cracking shot of him riding at a Radlands (Northampton) contest. I think this was the one where Hoffman was there, in early 1993. Geoff isn’t sure, but he thinks he came second or third in A group mini, behind Jamie Bestwick.

One of the things I like about this pic (other than the totally rad air) is the massive crowd! Look at them all! Can anyone see themselves in there?

Also, since this is a twitchy BMX site, check out the early WAL he is riding with his “milky bars” that he used to make and sell.

What was the year? Feb 1993 was BSDs guess. How did Geoff actually do? I told him someone would know.

I rode in B group and after the comp I tried to find out how I had done. No-one would/could tell me and I went home with no idea. I didnt find out till I got Ride magazine a while later and read it in there.

Must have been early '93 Alex as it's in the April issue of Ride UK. No mention of Geoff Cain in the results, tho' it seems like they made a fair lash-up of the whole report so the results may not have been correct.

Interestingly there's a John Terry's ad on the opposing page, 43 quid for a bolt on GT bashguard !!!, while a Dirt Bike with platform was 20 quid more than the regular version.

I think BSD has got footage of the same comp, taken from the other side. I cant see him filming, but maybe Laz can be seen on there?

I was definately there but I was thin and had (a lot of ) hair!

I got a pocked full of titanium tubing and a set of Ducati wheels. He wont miss them!

I forgot to ask him about the Hand Grenade pegs he said he's got. Dans gunna kill me.

lovin that pic   i can almost feel how cold it is too.
always remember it been chilly until i got riding.
