My first Basic Bykes Part

Scored a pair of Whammy bars.
Don't see them around very much.
I don't think they made them for long.

Dan!
I'll Save them for a Small town hick when I find one. they need cleaning. Only other pair i saw of these were red in a bike shop.
these came out before Basic closed up.
they kinda look like strip bars I think but with a Kneesaver look.

I took a few snaps of the Basic bars that i have got. They have got a hollow stem tube, and the grip tubes are inserted to the main bar and welded.

There is quite a bit of up sweep in them. "Toast", the Basic rider, told me that he tried to lower the sweep of the bars by putting them in some massive press. They didnt wanna move at all so he kept upping the pressure ... till the things broke off at the cross bar!!! Some tuff bars, for sure!

I went to visit Basic in 1997 with a couple of mates who knew the guy who ran it. One of them got these bars from him then. I got them off my mate a few years ago when he was having a big clear out.

When we went to visit Basic they were in Coquitlam, BC. Canada. It was just Cecil there and it was more like his garage, not much stock or much of anything going on really. I think soon after that Cecil left Basic, and it all kind of ended.

Cecil moved Basic to Saskatoon Saskatchewan. I was at his house a couple years ago at a yard sale. he had got rid of everything by then. a guy i know here had bought alot of his stuff for his shop but he closed it about 3yrs ago or so. he had about 40prs of silencers some sprockets and Bars.
Some other guy in the USA bought the rest.

Dan, your going to the Epic Xmas do, right? Talk nicely to Geoff Cain.

(I'll try to get him to find them out before then and maybe bring them with him)

I've been trying to contact the guy that had all the silencers. But no luck so far. I didn't make it to the store auction when he closed up. I'd like to find out if he has anything left or where the stuff ended up.
