1st new school bike- this any good?

I quite like the look of these and theres been a few about at around the £100 mark...

Thinking of having a pop at buying it...

It would be my first new school novice ride.. those Haro ones are out of stock now for a month and I suspect a price rise anyway.


Anyone got any comments?

they are heavy as a very heavy thing wheels wont last long if yer rough  n weigh a bit
crank is good easy to convert to sealed bb
most of all it will take a few big slams !!!!! mine has

And with that my hopes are dashed.................................. the guy said its got a 20" top tube will that be long enough.

I'm 5'11 and weigh 15stone.

I will know if I can stretch to that by the end of the week- contemplating going back to uni full time- but if I stretch to that I would stretch to £300 and just get a good frame with ok bits courtesy of Trev and start on somet light.

if you can hold on a week or so when i've got my arse into gear. i'm gonna be selling a load of stuff that might help you out. especially if you've got a £300 budget. some of the stuff i already know i'm selling. 20.5" standard trls 250 frame (pick a colour as i'll spray it) 10mm dropouts though, odyssey dirt forks (two pairs, so option of peg mounts or not) hoffman jumping bars, 3 s&m redneck stems, odyssey wheelset (cassette on hazard lite rim and vandera on hazard lite rim), T1 bars, profile cranks with ti spindle, shadow conspiracy pegs, odyssey intac seatpost, shadow seat, left primo lever, dia tech hombre brake, 36t profile chainring. might be some other stuff added.

20" or 21" yer wont feel much diffrence !!!! i cant
about 15 stone errr im not far off that but i crash a lot n miss time hop s up large kerbs n steps so wheels tyers n tubes dont last long
get wot ever yer can afford yer can slowly upgrade parts from the for sale section on here till yer have all the good stuff yer need then once yer stop wreckin get yer self a nice frame

Still for sale- he took ages to come back to me but the he wont come close to what I want to pay based on advice from a few people.... and its quite a way away from me so I adjudged it to be not worth it.

there are plenty of these "my first new school" bikes floating around.  so there is no need to have your pants pulled down over it. make what you think is a reasonable offer (bearing in mind, it will probably only suffice for about 6 months or so). if your offer is not accepted, move onto the next bike.  there will be more people selling them than people wanting to buy them. if your offer is not accepted, tell them to get in touch if they change their mind.  i guarantee when someone can't find a buyer at all, they'll call you back.
