6 Spoke Skyway Bleached..amazing

Hi folks .

I purchased some OE 6 spoke skyways of Stuntmaster Paul at MK07 for £20 quid (all straight and true, just heavy in muck).
Well since then I've had the front wheel in thick bleach for the past 4 weeks and today I cleaned all the muck off and to say I'm pleased with the result is a massive understatement .

The following pics just show what difference bleaching has made. Believe me, the front skyway was just as bad as the rear in terms of grime/dirt/black brake block marks. The only thing I made a mistake on was leaving the original manufacturers sticker on the inside of the rim, and all the writing has been bleached off....doh!!!

Promise ya guys, the front is for real, looked exactly the same state as the rear originally, just mr bleach and plenty of wrist action afterwards, lots of excess white stuff was flying everywhere

First wear some latex/rubber gloves then just pour lots and lots and lots of cold water (I used a watering can). 
Then used a damp sponge to wipe any residue off and kept repeating with water and sponge. I found the sponge was goin white so I think I was cleaning off the top layer of colour.
Then just dried it off with plenty of kitchen roll. Once dry, finshed off by using some tyre cleaner on a sponge which brings the colour out a bit more

All in all I spent a good 2 to 3 hours cleaning one wheel .

Thank you guys for your comments, including the funny ones   Makes the effort worthwhile.

I gotta admit I love this resto lark. I like buying nos but I get a sense of achievement rescuing things like this. Hopefully they're intended for a Mongoose Decade Pro.....but I'm sure I'll be putting them on other rides.

The only downside with this bleaching game, is the smell of 12 litres of the stuff that never seems to go away....yak

how did you get the brake block marks off paul.
i get a blue set of tuffs thats about to be dyed but they got the black marks too.

Dordy, just did a bit of prep prior to bleaching, used a 2 sided sponge (one side soft, one side slightly rough, the type of thing used for washing up dishes etc) and then used fairy liquid with warm to hot water. Then it's just a case of a bit of elbow. Got most of it off but the bleaching got any stubborn stuff off
