My floval project
« on: September 21, 2007, 08:12 PM »
Ok boys and girls, this is my cruiser.  it's not old school, new school or mid school, it's just my cruiser.  After riding for many teams and many years it's all I have left (apart from the now notorious pit bike in mums loft).  This site has inspired me to do a bit of a project on it so i'm seeking opinions.

Firstly, I ride this bike and plan on racing next year (time/business/kids/fiance permitting).  Right now it's a mish mash, 90's frame, 70's seatpost, 2006 seat etc so what do you think?

Right now i'm thinking of creating a slightlly retro look and feel but wilth all the peformance of a bike of today. How about polishing up the frame and cranks and fitting a lot of black/gold parts on it, if it wont polish up then maybe paint her black.

What would you do?

SPEC:
USA made floval/landing gears
Wheels: rear profile cassette/front crupi ti hubs on sun rims with dt spokes/blackwall comp3's
DRIVETRAIN: technique cranks, crupi chainring/pedals/sram chain and shimano cassette sprocket
SEAT: WTB power V on shimano DX post
BARS: Crupi cruiser bars and stem, avid v brakes

thats a nice floval, proper SE too,
liking the technique cranks on there,
polished would be cool, why not do-it-yourself, its fairly straight forward,
try to keep some colour in the parts though, save it from the "silver dream racer" look :LolLolLolLol:

i'd race that , no probs :daumenhoch:

Bollox, i thought I had about the only pair of those cranks around! Have many people got them?  I got mine at the WC in Michigan, I guess about 94/95?

No silver dream racer, quite the opposite.  I emailed John Kovachi last night about a set of black Kovachi hubs built on black sun rims with gold Marwi ti spokes!  on a polished frame with Dels infamous old school gold/black floval stickers, that could look sweet!

Sweet dingo!  If I go with the whole polished/blk/gld them my blue seatpost won't match, who make a light 22.2 seatpost with an integrated clamp?

Clive, I think that Floval looks perfect as it is.  Though I guess old habits die hard for the OS King of Bling!
