Usually I'd go with the build it and ride it vote...But,that's a unique and rare work of art in some circles..It's also in a state that is quite special too.If you don't need to sell or ride it,keep it safe as is,it's a real nice thing to have.As Pete said get another if you feel a need to build one....If it's too tempting while it's in the house, pass it on... ;)

Lee

Personally I would leave it alone, I say this because I've had the same choice with the Redline 600b.

I built it up and wasn't happy with the result so I sold it.

It would have been better for me to leave it in its box and put it in the loft for another 10 years, then once Id completely forgotton about it I would have had the best surprise finding it again!

You have got to do one of two things:

either build it up and do it justice

or

Display it somehow

leaving it gathering dust is just shite, its too nice

Get a nice display case/frame built around it and hang it on the wall with some nice lighting, Then go in the loft and strip all your bikes down to component parts and have a play rebuilding with different parts/colours ,you have enough stuff in your house to keep any sane minded old schooler happy for an eternity without fookin with the Black Shadow  :police:

 :) DINGO :)

Am with you Ding, and these bloody JP cages are still on my computer desk, next stop is the bin :D

The main thing I respect about my British BMX cousins is that most of you guys actually ride and even (heaven forbid) race the old school stuff.  My opinion is that a BMX frame is just a decoration, a built bike is art (even more so, if it gets ridden)

(Then again, I been riding little kids BMX bikes for almost 35 years so my mind might be going)

Lee DONT SELL IT!!

Give it to me, and I will build it, and ride it!

You all know I don't believe in having a bike you're not gonna ride so let me have it and I'll do the bizzo.

I got a NOS TA and built it up with NOS parts apart from the wheels. I put white alloy hubbed Skyway wheels on it. The wheels are slightly going yellow now and i feel like taking them off for a bleach. I dont wanna fook the drop outs though by taking the wheel out and re-tightinging after the bleaching.

Decision... decisions.

A NOS frameset is there to be built i reckon but only built with NOS parts.

I hate mis-mash bikes built with NOS and refurbed parts.

How many other unbuilt NOS shadows are left in the world, less than 5 maybe'this means to me its too rare to be built, even though we all know you would do it justice, but as soon as you build this JMC up some of the magic would have been lost IMO.

Looks like you've come to the right decision Lee. I would certainly leave it as NOS, for a few reasons:

1) You have a number of other JMCs - it's not as though it's your only one.
2) Have you ever seen another NOS JMC?? No, Quads, Rippers, TA's all turn up NOS...never JMC's. It's unique and I'd protect it.
3) It's nice to have a selection of 'parts' as well as complete bikes (think of that guys 'bike store' in his garage in the US).
4) It would look awesome in a case on the wall of your study.
5) Think of the value you'd knock off it, if you built it.
6) Fat Pete might sit on it if you built it! That would fook it up.

Think that's it for now. But you've definately made the right choice.

if you build it, the NOS is gone. simple. Why spoil a rare NOS treat with bits. better just give it to charity. like '  Joint Operations Help Newcastle ' or just the acronym thereof ::)
