Capital Radio London Docklands Freestyle Show 84/85ish
« on: October 01, 2007, 10:02 AM »
I had to get everything out of my mum's loft over the weekend and as much as I was dreading it there was a little thought at the back of my mind that I might strike gold up there.

Did I find my old graphite z's or Haro lightning bolt plates? No. My boxes of R/C stuff? No. My old casual gear? No.

All I found was my old school reports, some Commodore 64 stuff, some very dodgy clothes and these photos. Somewhere in a loft in the S.E. of England has got to be a fair few grands worth of my past. :-\

Anyway these were taken at a Capital Radio event over in Docklands, East London around late 84/ early 85 I think.

Not sure who all the riders are but I see Neil Ruffell, I guess that's CC in the ProLite top and possibly Glyn Lewis on the DP?

I think there was some kind of record attempt at the most drop-ins or something and it looks like there's a big old tv camera on the top of one of the vans so there must be film footage of it somewhere.

And a pic of my old 'Beat the day I got it home from Faze 7. :'(

Sorry about the poo pics, I think I took them on one of those dodgy disc film cameras.

I can see Andy Ruffell talking to CC and Peter Hawkins in the grey jacket .

I popped over there that day with a couple of my mates, non bmx, and it was a after I`d stopped riding so it would be 85 for sure, I had a chat with Craig and Neal and that was the last time I spoke to either of them  :(

Hopefully I`ll get a chance to speak to Craig before too long  :daumenhoch:
I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips,
Straining upon the start. The game's afoot:
Follow your spirit, and upon this charge
Cry 'God for Harry, England, and Saint George!'

Cheers mate, still very sad though as I know he was very highly thought of.  :(

It just reads as though it was Chris who had passed.......

This is a big shame, he used to drive us around the country in an old ambulance towing a 1/4 pipe & ramp doing demo's.

I think he also made the first set of pegs that Chris used.

He done a lot of good for BMX BITD, thats a big loss  :(
