help needed , a bit green to frame size,s
« on: September 17, 2007, 12:49 PM »
right ive got a bike built which would comply with the old school series , but the tt is to short 18.5 and i feel cramped , as my cruiser is bigger and longer and feels fine , i,am 5,11 and 12 stone and was wondering what other old school frames would be best suited to  my height .
cheers daz

For your height it's 21 or 21.5 ( maybe 20.5 with longer stem ) .

Amtrak
Hyper
Haro Pro XL ?

etc , guys add others .

apprantly the ones from ALANS are actually 19.5 inch top tubes and not the 20.5 as shown.
I'm about 5.10 and 12 1/2 stone and find my new school GT long at 21 inches.
My old school is 18 inches long and a bit short.
I'm looking for something about 20 or 20.5 inches.
Hope this helps
Gary

im 5 11 and find 19 1/2" and 20" suit me fine tho i do use pro length stems on these and a chopped layback. dcbmx on ebay has put a se assassin frame up for sale a couple of times recently and thats a 20" toptube and old school legal and was only £65 posted to the UK, top frame, although the seat tube beneath the seat clamp had a slight crack but a couple of tacks and youve got a cool as fook rider

If you're after something over 19.5,you're probably looking for bikes after 1988..
 Free Agent Limo,Elf Pro XL,Elf Double Cross,TNT Longfellow,early S&M....
The TT should be used as a good guide only though,as the whole frame's geometry will effect how it feels.Try riding as many bikes as possible... ;)

No idea. All I know is that he's not using his any more. I can find out for you though.
