A FEW CHANGES TO MY RIPPER
« on: September 05, 2007, 05:47 PM »
ive always been a big fan of tuffs :smitten:
i really do think they epitomize an old school bike.
they were always the wheel i could never afford :-[
so most of my builds have them :daumenhoch:
BUT
recently ive been swayed to the dark side and started
to prefer spokes on a ripper ???
so i had to do it :D :D

changes ive made from its first incarnation are:

black z rims stainless spokes hi flange suzue hubs
genuine comp III's
fully mirror polished early winged GT solid power disk
and matching chain ring.
nos gold mx1000 with nos DC gold cables and nos DC tech II levers
full mirror polished early pro neck stem
nos aero viscount seat
gold seat clamp

let me know what you think
BETTER OR WORSE???????

first build!!!!!

as it is now!!!!!

i'm facinated by the comments of the cranks....

get rid for what reason? cos they are double pinch?

ignoring that point, it looks mint! needs a black kashi aero to finish it right off!

nice.
rippers looks too busy with tuffs!

ditch the new school crank though
run a 1pc if can't afford some nice old school 3pc cranks

can you reach those levers?

Much better with spokes and go with a 1pc - it will look spot on then.

Nice work.

That looks much better with spokes  :daumenhoch: , ditto on crank comments & lose the front brake on race bikes .

I must admit, I like a front brake on a Ripper for some reason. However, if you're gonna leave a front brake on loose the plate...then it's a nice 'factory' bike.

cheers for the comments guys.
it seems to be divided over the wheels
i think tuffs on most bikes but the sleek lines
of the ripper favour spokes.
i also know what your saying about the cranks
but im really not a fan of 1 piece.
looks like i may have to raid the savings for some
single pinch :daumenhoch:
