Is it me or does that Raleigh (if it is one) have a very short rear triangle?

Yes you are an observant one!!! This RALEIGH frame is a prototype that john lee was running made entirely out of reynolds 531 tubing. Well spotted that man...

I think those "whoops" might be Blackpool track.
Jamie Vince behind John (just see him through the skyways)
Who's that in the Brum Wheels gear? Is it Pat Robinson?

I thought that was a south coast track (portsmouth, plymouth, exeter - some south coast...) - doubles on the first straight... I remember the pic from bitd - just not the name of the track...

I've got a vague recollection of those armco barriers but I don't think it's Blackpool. I went to college there and used to ride that track quite a bit.

Wasn't his name Trev Robinson, and the guy in the Raleigh kit looks like Martin....... forget his surname. Looks like a superclass race from '85?

Doesn't look like Blackpool to me, don't recall the barrier.

Here's a pic from there from 1987 I think it must be.....near the time I finished racing :(
Got disqualified in this moto too.....wasn't my fault we clashed together on every berm!!  >:(

Trev Stamford is a white guy from the north west! Now living in Australia.
Trev Robinson was a big black guy from Brum. Pat was his cousin? I think?
They both rode in Birmingham wheels gear for a while if I remember right.

The picture makes me think of a north west track for some reason. I don't think I ever raced there, but I'm sure I rode a track with tarmac doubles and armco barriers up that way? Maybe I dreamt it!

Can we get the original Scan blown up so we can read the red text on the bottom left?

The Raleigh guy is definitely John Lee.
The Martin that Gudge mentioned was Martin Jose who rode in my age class for Raleigh.
Not sure on the year. Could be '84 superclass race
Alan & John both went Pro in 85.

Yes definitely Pat Robinson - Trev Robinson was built like a brick privvy in comparison. So here's a question -  who were all the members of the Birmingham Wheels team? Dean Bateson, Simon Lawther....
