That frame is way nice. I prefer the other style of HAF stickers, but that is so clean it looks great.

I dont know what to think about that Vee brake (or maybe canti if you used a bolt on cable stop). I have never seen one before so Im guessing its a custom build, but if so ... why is it NOS with you, and why did the person who ordered it never get it?

Nice to have 1" clamp on forks with peg mounts on a heavy build.

You are just showing off by having 2 shield seats in the first pic!!!

thanx egg , your are a hero as got forks off bay thinking they were for a shafted stem.
the haf doesnt have  a stamped sheild like alexs key thing.
and seat clamp gap is back to frount , will have a look to see if has a frame number.
alex did team frames have no frame numbers

Funny about the 1" clamp on redneck. I have got one and a set of forks to go with them. I knew Rory was after one so I was glad to tell him. Now, several months later, I have just got a pair of NOS "stupid forks" .... so I could do with a stem to go on them, ha ha. Im thinking I will just make a shim for a 1 1/8th stem.

Not long ago I found a picture of me riding at radlands on my last 1" bike. I am running a set of stupid forks with a 1" clamp on mensural stem (like the S&M race stem). I totally had no recollection of them at all, and I have no idea where they went!

I think all the frames had numbers. Maybe not if they were a total custom build, but I think they all did.

The sheild stamp on the back of the top tube was on the later HAFs cos that style of frame (standard style) started getting copied so much (in the far east) that S&M wanted to make it clear what frames were their US made ones.

SMF number is right for a HAF. I have got my 2 frame numbers written down at work so I will see where they are next to yours, and also add yours to my 1" S&M frame numbers list (how sad am I?)

Fellas - that frame was mine!
i bought it from Cyclesport, they had it NOS and unbought, they think it was ordered in for someone once upon a time who never came and got it.
The idea for the rear brak if I remember correctly is to run a cable outer to the first cable guide on the underside of toptube, then use an adjuster there. Then you run cable inner the rest of the way and thru a small cable routing tube that is welded on to the seattube, then run a cantilever brake. Perfect 90's weird modification.
Ilove that frame. Wish I sill had it, in fact I dont have any s&m stuff now. Alex got my last two Holmes frames!
Actually, Cyclesprt tell me they still have one regular 1d990 1" Heavy As F88k frame NOs eft in there warehouse.........!

No, no, no, say it isn't so! There should be a limit to how many HAF frames are allowed within the boundaries of Oxford  ;D
