How low can I go ?

I`ve just purchased an odyssey free coaster to have laced in to a hazard rim, the trouble is that it only comes with a ten tooth driver, so I will need to change my chainwheel to a 28 tooth.
Now, my brake lugs are on the lower part of the rear triangle so the chain may snag on it, and my question is what is the lowest brake that I can get that might cure this problem ?

Not to mention that they work brilliantly and are lightweight..

depends on frame geometry. on mine, the oddy evolver fouled with a 30 tooth wheel so probably will on yours. the lugs are the same height no matter what you put on it tho......what ratio were you running before the freecoaster?

I`ve got 36-13 at the moment which gives plenty of room.

Bill, if you need to try it out, I have a Primo E-brake on my Pashley....which is residing at Bobs house at the mo.

a 36 will run on mine, but not a 30. a 30 fouls the brake.

Even with a fly brake your chain will hit the brake
Im assuming your still running the T1.
The chainstays on the LAF are a lot lower than yours thats why it works. From memory I think the lowest you can go is about 33t

thats what i thought. the lugs are the same no matter wot brake you get.

its whether the chainstays are low enough.

The brakes make a load of diff, A fly brake has a minimal stacking height, if you compare it to an oddy evolver the difference is massive the same goes for the primo E brake but I know what your saying about the difference in chainstays, I think you can o as low as 25-9 on a panterra if you use a fly, unfortunately for billy his T1 wont accomodate the hub he wishes to use.
Time to get a new frame I think Bill

I will be using them though, even if it means getting a new frame

No worries, quite fancied a green set (mine are grey). They work so well, they are just superb.

Proper Proclaimer with spanish b/b and intergral  headset, not sure what top tube length to have though, my T1 is only a 20" and I quite like the way it rides

Short as you can man, it feels like old school frames (but way better with the short rear end, if that makes sense). My Fly simple is less than 19" and it feels great.
