Aero Zytecs
« on: November 11, 2005, 06:18 PM »
I have a set of Aero Zytecs in blue, that I'm going to use on a my first build, an early 90's GT freestyle frame.

My question is, are these any good? It seems that most builds you see that run mags are rolling on Skyway Tuff II's.

This GT's going to be a rider, probably abused a little bit, so I don't want anything on there that's too shoddy..

Thanks in advance!

James

zytecs are as good if not better than skyways. skyways have the reputation memories tho. and the price. your choice.  if you want blue skyways expect to pay 120 quid.

thanks for that, I like the design of the hub on the zytecs, they seem much more sturdy than the skyways. I remember bending a rear hub as a kid.

I'm building a silver frame and using blue components, and the Zytecs are a nicfe darkish blue so that works for me. The great thing is that they only stand me at £11.27 ;) and they're in good, used condition

if your riding and riding hard get set spoked wheels you will bend them in no time although i find they are much better than tuffs to be honest .

im running zytecs on my ripper at the mo, its a daily rider (and crasher!) and they is fine, taking some heavy nocks with no probs. but i cant get tyres over 50 psi as they pop of the rims, sometimes with a feckin loud bomb sound  :o

i dont want to step on anyones toes but i have to disagree on this skyways-zytecs issue, in the past i have snapped 2 pairs of zytecs. i found skyways stronger and longer lasting. they handled far better on big tricks & just seem a better mag. now im skint im running £20 zytecs but soon as some cash comes my way its the bin for these flexy mags & skyways are back on...

I found skyways were very flexy when I got back on a bike after 20 years, thats why I got the graphites which were a lot better, but they broke  :(

I think you`ll find all plastic mag wheels flex abit now we are all a bit heavier  ;)
I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips,
