DC Tech 3 levers - Were they painted or anno?

Got a set of pink tech 3 levers but on close inspection they seem to be black underneath. Were the the black ones anno originally cause if so I want to get the paint stripper on them.

Cheers Lazychubs! Well I couldn't wait and part stripped them today and unbelievably they were nos black levers before being painted pink. They had been very well painted as I thought it was their original finish till I scraped a little off. Anyhow, have tested on an old lever and the paint stripper doesn't seem to melt the nylon washers, so its all go tomorrow and I will have a nos black set, yeah! Well happy.

I do wonder though if the lever part is painted... Probably totaly wrong but...

Ive had the other anno mounted area turn a bronze colour on me through age, while the lever part remained pure black. ??

Well now you mention it, like I said the finish was top notch. They had never been fitted or if so never tightened up or cables attached. Im up for buying another pink set now just to see if it was luck or are they all black underneath

Yea Owen, I have seen that colour change happen myself, strange??? Im not sure if it has something to do with the lever being a cast part and the rest being a folded piece? Who knows.........

I don't think they're  factory painted, shades different to dia compe pink and the rivet's painted over - would be left a shiny finish if original. Oh well.......

Hi Mark, Yea noticed when I stripped them to black that the rivets were silver. Well you have saved a national shortage on pink levers there mate,

i got a seatclamp and a couple of tech 3,s in black
both look the shade of coca cola

i have a fair few coca cola coloured parts - brakes, levers and stems

good find with the painted levers

i stripped a white fs880 brake, and underneath it's gleaming alloy

dia compe are the brakes that keep on giving

Well the bizarre thing is that I desperately needed a set of tech 3's to replace my tech 4's. Knew that I would be waiting an enternity for a nos set to come up, so opted for the pink and knew I could re-annodise them. It was pure luck it turned out the way it did.
