Hello - hope you can help...

Just got a pair of NOS Comp ST's which are covered in 'white' stuff...anybody know the best way to get rid of it?

Not sure...it seems to be some sort of coating...rubbing does take it off, but it's getting into the grooves to remove it...tried a toothbrush...taking ages! Ther must be an easier way!

just use some back to black tyre shine available from your local pound shop

Ah, are you sure?

The rubber is perfect, supple and jet-black...it's just this white protective coating which needs to go...any ideas?

yep..just use tyre shine....but be careful when 1st riding...its slippy stuff

the white suff is the release power.

Yep,i'd go with that,as mentioned take care as the silicon in the shine is super slippery!

Orb - I know what you mean, I just like that jet black look...and plus, I kind of already started...so, I now gotta finish!

Biagio recommended just hot water and a nail brush and Fuzzynod goes for brake cleaner (they use it on drag racing tyres to remove residue without any detrement to the tyre)...so, I'm going try these first and will let you know how I get on for the 'record'!

Hi,

It is like a wax and is used on many things, new cars, tyres etc etc.

The best thing is a degreaser, it is simple - put some in a small spray gun (like you use for flowers, windows etc), leave it for a few minutes and then wash it off. You could get it from the local valet company or maybe Halfords etc.
