squeaky alloy hubbed tuff 2 rear. How do i stop it!!
« on: July 18, 2007, 01:50 PM »
Hi all as you can guess from the title my tuff 2 rear is squeaking and it is doing my head in :tickedoff:. Can i fix it or is it gone? its as if the rivets that go through need tightening, but i dont think this can be done without changing them for screws ??? am i right or is there a quick fix, as i would like to keep the rivets ( they look better then screws ) thanks :daumenhoch:

a regrease wont help unfortunatley it looks as if the rivets are moving ever so slightly. I was hoping someone would say bost em with the hammer, job done :knuppel2:. I wont obviousley but i was hoping for a quick fix :daumenhoch:

I dont recomend a hammer, but could you not try placing in a large vice and  slowly nip up ?.
it may just compress rivets again without  cracking the nylon around them.

Hi dibbly yeah these are the ones i got from you. I thought at first the spindle was loose, which it was but that didnt sort it. When the rear is on the bike you can move it side to side and it squeaks. :2gunsfiring_v1: Very annoying :tickedoff: Im not sure if its because they are the alloy hubs ???, as my old ones were steel and they never made any noise. Im not sure what to try :-\. Maybe the vice but i would have to be extremely careful and to be honest i wouldnt want to do that. Im not saying your selling dodgy stuff as they are old wheels. Does anybody elses squeak? if not dibbly would you take a return and refund? :daumenhoch:

as you say mate "old wheels" they are never as good as the modern ones but they should be
totally usable :daumenhoch:
I dont think there is anything wrong with them otherwise i would never have sold them
are you going to MK?
we could get them checked out there mate :) :) :)
