Hi all

Hope you can help??! I used to ride in the mid 80's in the NW (Preston, Ribby, Chorley) on a Tim March mini (was only 6/7).

I really want to get myself an oldskool bike and would love to get a March again (bit of nostalgia). Can anyone help? Please

I'll see what I can do about some pics, got all the old paper cuttings of results as well somewhere, so I'll get them on as well. Are you still riding?

I used to ride an MRD too BITD,nice frames,I just couldn't get too grips with the geometry of the frame......its just seemed too different to any other bike I'd ridden.

but its only an expert and I'm guessing it'll be tad small for you now,that is unless you never managed to grow like me.

Yeah I used to find it a bit odd as well, but its that long ago now I can't really remember!! I'll have a scan at the one on bay but at 6'2" I suppose it might be a bit small.

im another old nw rider too. Used to race barton back in 84,85 in the 11's,12's. Anyone know when the vikings club was dispanded? Would love to see your old pictures of the nw tracks too.

Hi Slurp. Raced at Barton a lot...and was a Salford Viking at one point - still got my certificate. hehe. Got any pics yourself? I only have one from Barton - regional 2/12/1984

nice picture kusam.it looks just as i remember the track in the winter,muddy.they put a water jump in to cover up the crappy drainage at one point.ive got a couple of pics.will post them when i next visit the folks in manchester next month.ive got 1 of the pre facelift track,and 1 of me looking like im curling one out jumping the whoops in a body warmer....not bad that one.do you remember gary cocker?i never beat him once.Would love to know what happened to the vikings.did they make it into 86.

Yep...get 'em posted...would love to see more of the actual track.
Here's my certificate..thought it was later than 85 but I was wrong. Wasn't wholly dedicated to the Vikings though...Roch Valley was my main club..and I was also a Ribby Racer.
Don't remember a Gary C0cker.....only Vikings I remember really were Matthew Carruthers and Adele Croxon. Also remember always getting a can of Quatro (that green drink in white can..yum!)from the caravan there :-D
I know the Vikings had to move when the track wasn't available anymore and they merged with Bruntwood to become.....,....Bruntwood Vikings. hehe. Don't know if it was 86 or 87...or even later. Think I read it in one of my old mags recently...will keep an eye out for it again.

I still live close to Ribby now, in Warton. Is there anyone there who raced aged 5-7 between 84-86?
