I love those frames and have wanted one since I tried one out over at Hounslow track back in 1984  :smitten:

If you look at the drops outs, the back portion that's welded to the fork, is at a right angle on the JMC's forks. On the Bottemas, they are more slanted.

Not sying they ain't Bottemas, they just look more like Redline to me  :LolLolLolLol:

Guy,

Just found another pic of the M2's there is a weld behind, but I must admit it is not clear from the pics available if they are Bottema's or Redlines!

We certainly do seem to have a 'situation' here   ;D

I think we need a close up of the fork drops to make sure  :daumenhoch:

Indeed, the Bottema's do have a distinctive cut out that could be easier to spot with a close up

I'm not clued up on how to restore rides, so what would be the first process in restoring that JMC ???

Would be good to see a step by step process ;)

Would that rot have weakened the frame in any way?

Muttley,

That really depends on how bad it is. If the f+f is given the oxalic acid treatment then it will be possible to see what damage (ie how much tuing has been corroded away) has been done.

then I guess the next question would be if any tubes needed replacing/repairing, this may depend on the finish to be applied and also whether the bike is to be a show pony or work horse!!

Back in 1997 I saw a pk ripper frameset that had been found underneath a compost heap where it had been for 10 years. Should've bought it then, but I was into newschool bmx then.

I dont know much about JMC frames, what one is that?

I have started putting together a Shadow Ive got and it feels like a little kids bike! The top tube is 18.5 inches, but it feels like its about 15"! I guess now Im used to bikes that have a top tube above 20 inches.

OK, thanks. When I got the bike it had 1 3/8th wheels on it ... and Darryl Young bars!!!! I will still put it back together much like it was when I got it, just with 20 x 1.75 wheels.
