Tight Stem Bolt
« on: July 11, 2007, 09:57 PM »
Okay guys, easy one for ya.  One of my stem bolts is really tight.  So tight I can see the allen key starting to bend when try to undo it.  what is the best way to loosen it?  wd40?

also, do you know if all, i suppose they are called hollow fork bolts now (formally known as hollow stem bolts) are different sizes or not.  I need to replace one.  Sh1Tstanleys were supposed to have sent me a replacement one months ago, but now i have given up all hope from them.

cheers.

Also, see if you can get a centre punch into the the allen head and hit it with a hammer to break the "weld" on the threads  :daumenhoch:

yeah, i've got something that will give it more leverage, but i think i'll need stronger allen keys.  you could tell these were about to snap with just me pulling on it.  fooking cheap homebase tat.

would that cause any damage?

If you use a flat ended centre punch then no, it shouldn't damage it at all  :daumenhoch:

Mind your thumb though won't you!
