how do i put the small ring thing on that fits onto the base of the forks, the one that the bearings sit on, i tried to hammer it on but it just cracked???

your knackered then. you need a new one, and unfortunately ive just thrown one away. if it is one inch fork size, you can use a set of nu skool forks, slip the steerer tube over the old skool ones and tap away. i have had to lightly file away to get em on in the past, specially if it has been powdered.

apparently 'alfords do a 1 inch headset for 3 quid. that will ave one in. my branch didnt sell em tho, everybody else says they sell um.

Thems is nice too, chrome Diamond back jobbies.

You can get BB's too for about three and a half squid.

Fake compe 3's for £7 a shot too.

But thems is choclate

i bought a diamond back 1" threaded headset for a fiver from halfords the other week

it was very much the "last chicken in the shop" though.
and it looked like it had been opened then subsequently repackaged by a mental patient.

dont expect halfords to be running this kind of obsolete kit in any abundance.

my halfords had 14 pairs of oddessytriple trap a few eeks back. worth keepin an eye on halfords. plus its open late.

didnt really want to buy a new headset but went to halfords & bought the db one for £3.25, fits like a glove ;D
